The cows comin' home

Allright, so Paul's working feverishly on Nevada as THEIR caucuses is just around the corner, though Mitt Romney's predicted to win (according to WSJ). He's drumming up support from Hispanic/Latino voters, which is wise, but you have to wonder just how much support he can get with his current foreign policy stance. I'm not saying it's impossible, but the man seriously needs a reality check: you cannot get elected to the presidency without paying lip-service to compromise.

Look at it this way; Barack Obama made it into the White House on the platform of change. He didn't go into specifics of what that would be, how much it would cost, or how long it would take to implement - and that's exactly why he got elected. If he had come out during the election and said "I'm going to spend money we don't have on an overhaul of our health insurance industry", or "I plan to abuse the special appointments clause of the constitution, bypass the senate and appoint whomever I choose as head of the Consumer Protection Bureau" or "I think military intervention in Libya doesn't need congressional approval", all but the most hardcore, hippy-dippy liberals would have RUSHED to vote for Hillary Clinton. Because at least Hillary would know not to overstep her authority - not to this degree.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we are approaching a time when presidents answer to no one but themselves. Our constitution is dying a quick death - out with the old, in with the new. People who still look to it as a source of authority are openly mocked (e.g. Ron Paul), and people who profess to know the constitution inside and out (e.g. Barack Obama) routinely trample on it. Yes, Virginia, power DOES corrupt. This is why I cannot, and will not, ever run for political office.

Ahhh, but that's not all. Donald Trump endorsed Mitt Romney on Wednesday, quote; "Mitt is tough, he's smart, he's sharp; he's not going to allow bad things to continue to happen to this country."

Right. And Nelson Rockefeller is my rich uncle. This guy thinks himself a kingmaker, and maybe he is... because the rich and powerful only listen to the rich and powerful. It's a rather insular group up at the top, and they don't like it when upstarts try to muscle their way in - like Santorum and Paul. The ol' boy party likes Romney because he's one of them. The AARP crowd likes Gingrich because he's going to give them even more retirement benefits they didn't earn.

But it's not all bad. Because when things are all bad, the people will know, and they will fight back with every breath in their bodies - just like they did during the Revolutionary war, during the Civil war, and during World War Two. We rise to the occasion, but only when it's absolutely necessary to do so. The question is; how long will it take for us to reach that point?

More importantly: are you going to be prepared?
